There may be four foldables

Samsung may launch double-folding mobile this year

From launching two foldable mobiles each year, Samsung's portfolio may expand to four models by 2025.

According to new reports from the South Korean publication The Elec, Samsung plans to launch its first double-folding mobile, meaning one that folds in two places instead of one, during the third quarter of this year. The model is said to have a screen size of around ten inches when fully unfolded.

The production is reported to be on a limited scale with planned manufacturing of about 200,000 units according to the report, which may mean that it is about testing the market for the new form factor before committing to large-scale production.

According to the publication, it will involve four different models, which in addition to the double-folding model are said to include Galaxy Fold 7, Galaxy Flip 7, and Galaxy Flip 7 FE. The latter is expected to be a cheaper model of the regular Galaxy Flip 7, where Samsung presumably hopes to attract a wider audience to try a foldable model.

The usual foldable models Flip and Fold are typically presented in the third quarter every year, so the information about the double-fold aligns with it being presented at the same time. However, there is no indication of when the company might present the Galaxy Flip 7 FE model.
