Apple Iphone 13 Mini

The Iphone 13 Mini is actually a discontinued model that is no longer sold by Apple, but it is still new enough that it will continue to receive the latest version of iOS for several years and spare parts are widely available. We include it in the list because it is by far the most compact phone you can get your hands on, and therefore it may be worth looking for it on the market for used or refurbished phones.

Apple Iphone 16

In the absence of a new Iphone mini, the Iphone 16 is still a fairly compact mobile by modern standards. The Iphone 15 and Iphone 14 have similar dimensions and also work as alternatives. The Iphone 16 Pro, however, is now a bit larger.

Samsung Galaxy S24

The base model in Samsung's flagship series is slightly smaller than the iPhone 15, and compared to the iPhone 15, you also get a zoom camera. Samsung Galaxy S23 and S22 can be cheaper alternatives that are still relatively new. Samsung Galaxy S25 is expected to be launched early next year.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6

Samsung's Flip phone with a foldable screen has a large external screen where you can run at least some apps with one hand. Z Flip 5 has the same large external screen, but older models have a smaller screen that cannot run apps.

Motorola Razr 50

The Motorola Razr 50 has a large outer screen that you can run apps on without any hassle other than that many apps do not work as they should in the small square screen format. The Razr 50 Ultra is a more expensive option that mainly has better cameras and a faster chipset.

Sony Xperia 10 VI

Sony's mid-range phone is the cheapest compact phone on this list. The elongated screen format is not for everyone, the phone is narrower to hold but it does not make it easier to reach the upper part of the screen. The performance and cameras are a bit weaker than many other phones on the list, but the battery life is excellent.

Sony Xperia 5 V

Sony's compact flagship shares the elongated screen format with the Xperia 10 VI but is faster and has better cameras. Sony has not launched a new model in the Xperia 5 series this year, so perhaps last year's Xperia 5 V is the last of its kind.

Google Pixel 9

In Google's Pixel 9 series, the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro are essentially identical in dimensions and weight. The Pixel 9 is compact but quite heavy. The Pro model is more expensive but has a zoom camera and a slightly better screen. Google's focus is on artificial intelligence features, but many of them are not available to us in Sweden.

Google Pixel 8a

Google's slightly cheaper phones are released more than half a year after the top models and are therefore a generation behind in performance and design. It might be worth it for one of the cheaper compact phones on the list.

Xiaomi 14

For a couple of years now, Xiaomi has adopted the same model as Samsung for its top model series, with a base model that is a bit more compact, and a larger model with everything extra in the cameras. Xiaomi 14 is close to Google Pixel 9 in dimensions and weight. Xiaomi 15, which has shaved off a few more tenths of millimeters, has been launched in China and will likely come to Sweden at the beginning of 2025.

Asus Zenfone 10

As a mobile manufacturer, Asus has been looking for niches that are underserved and has focused on gaming phones and compact phones. Zenfone 10 has a well-thought-out format with the goal of creating a compact and one-hand-friendly phone. Zenfone 10 is a bit thicker but has shaved off a few mm in most other dimensions compared to the other phones we review here. This year, Asus has not launched any new compact Zenfone, so Zenfone 10 might be the last of its kind.
