The new Apple Watch models - all three with 5G and new health measurement

Apple released updates for all its smartwatches. More durable, with larger screens, better battery life, and some new features.

The new watches Apple just released are the Apple Watch Series 11, a new affordable Apple Watch SE, and the new Apple Watch Ultra 3. All models have 5G, which is new and is supposed to provide better coverage while making the watch more energy-efficient.

Apple Watch Series 11

Central to the launch is, of course, the Apple Watch Series 11. It has become thinner and has a more durable screen that is better protected against scratches.

The main new feature of the watch is that the Apple Watch now has the ability to detect high blood pressure. This is measured optically, and although Apple themselves say that the watch does not detect everyone who has high blood pressure, they expect to warn a million users just in the first year that the feature is active. The warnings occur by looking at data over a longer period, 30 days.

The function to warn about high blood pressure does not use any new sensors and, according to Apple, will also come to several existing watches, Apple Watch Series 9 and later, as well as the Apple Watch Ultra 2.

The other major health news is that the watch gets a new way to assess sleep. Sleep score takes into account how long you have slept, how effectively, if you have woken up, and other values to give you a sleep score. By clearly basing the sleep score on these factors, it should also be able to guide you on how you can easily improve it.

Despite the fact that the Apple Watch series 11 is supposed to be thinner, the battery life is expected to be better, up to 24 hours according to Apple.

Cheaper Apple Watch SE 3

Apple is also releasing a new version of the cheaper Watch SE, now in its third generation. Here we don't get the blood pressure measurement, but the new sleep score is included.

Like the regular watch, the Watch SE3 also supports 5G and the S10 system chip, which is new for the SE model, but the same chip found in other launched watches and also in last year's models. It also has an always-on display so you can see the time all the time without fully lighting up the screen. New in Watch SE 3 compared to its predecessors is that it has a speaker, supports gesture control, and can measure the temperature at the wrist.

The battery life is expected to be up to 17 hours and there is support for fast charging so that with 15 minutes of charging you can get 8 hours of use.

Apple Watch Ultra 3

The top model with the most extreme specifications also gets an update. A thinner frame around the screen makes the screen larger than before without the watch itself being larger. The screen is also brighter than before and, like the others, the watch supports 5G.

Of course, the Watch Ultra 3 also includes the new features found in the Watch series 11, with sleep score and high blood pressure detection. Additionally, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 supports satellite communication, for the first time in an Apple Watch. Here you can send SOS, update Find My, or send messages. However, it requires that the service is supported in the country you are in, and it is not yet available in Sweden.

Apple Watch All three versions are released on 19 September. The prices are 2995 SEK for Watch SE, 4995 SEK for Watch Series 11, and 9995 SEK for Ultra 3.
