Meta wants to compete with ChatGPT and Grot

Meta's AI app launched for iPhone and iPad - Creates images and provides answers

Meta launches a standalone chat app for iPhone and iPad based on the latest AI model.

Meta has launched a new standalone AI chat app called Meta AI. The app is designed for iPhone and iPad and is based on Meta's latest AI model, Llama 4. The app allows users to chat with a digital assistant via both text and voice.

In Meta AI, users can give commands to edit and create images using AI. A new voice technology, called full-duplex, enables the app to generate voice responses instantly, providing a natural and fast conversation.

Users also have the option to link their Facebook and Instagram accounts to the app. This is intended to make the experience more personal as information from these accounts can be used. Additionally, there is a "Discover" feed where one can view, share, and customise various AI commands.

It is important to note that Meta AI does not have access to the internet or real-time data. Instead, the app is used as a tool to allow users to try out new AI technology and provide feedback to the company. In this way, Meta also aims to meet competition from other AI services such as ChatGPT, Grot, Gemini, and others.

Meta AI is available for download in the App Store
