13 inches for 10,000

Review: Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE Plus - Tablet with a large screen and a slightly lower price

Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE Plus offers a large screen in a thin tablet, but has issues with the price tag.

Samsung's tablets come in three price ranges. Firstly, we have the Tab S series, which offers the best a tablet can provide, but at a rather painful price tag. Then we have the Galaxy A series, which offers limited features at a significantly lower price. And then we have the two models of the Galaxy Tab S10 FE, which, to be unkind, are neither one nor the other.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE Plus is the larger of the two models. The screen is 13.1 inches, between the Tab S10 Plus and Tab S10 Ultra in size. The price tag is a bit lower, but not much lower. Galaxy Tab S10 Plus, which has an almost equally large screen, costs from 14,000 while Tab S10 FE Plus starts at 10,000 kronor, while a lot of what makes the S10 series premium tablets has been stripped away.

If we start with the most obvious, the screen is no longer of the AMOLED type but LCD, and with a 90 Hz refresh rate instead of 120. I miss the quick response of the OLED screen the most, 90 Hz and LCD cause lag, but colours and black levels are at least good for an LCD screen.

The next thing you notice is the performance. The FE series in the phones usually has at least the second-best performance after the top models, but in this tablet, we find Samsung's chipset Exynos 1580, which is the same as in the mid-range phone Galaxy A56. In everyday use, when browsing, streaming movies, or following social media, the tablet is fast enough that you won't notice much difference compared to tablets with faster processors. However, if you use Samsung's Dex mode, where you open apps in windows like on a computer, the tablet starts to lag with just a couple of windows open. You also don't get the same AI features as in the more expensive tablets or phones in the Galaxy S25 series. Here, for example, is a poorer version of object erasing in images, which creates poorly rendered backgrounds and fails to remove shadows. Gemini and Circle to Search are available and work, of course, but they do on almost all Android tablets.

Long update time

You do at least get Samsung's user interface One UI 7 on the tablet, and it is promised system updates for seven years. A stylus is also included in the package, and it can be used to draw sketches or write in handwriting and have it translated into text.

The tablet is also thin and sleek in format, and equipped with stereo speakers for watching movies. The speakers are admittedly another reduction, many tablets both from Samsung and others have four speakers that provide a richer sound, but even these speakers are good enough for movies.

The tablet definitely belongs to the larger tablets, and the screen size is admittedly nice when you watch movies and surf, but on the other hand, it makes the tablet quite heavy to hold over time. For the screen size, the tablet is at least not unusually heavy.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE Plus costs, as mentioned, just under 10,000 in its cheapest version, but that is with 8 gigabytes of RAM and 128 gigabytes of storage. That is quite little by today's standards, and if you want 12/256 GB, the price jumps up to 11,000. If you also want a SIM card slot in the tablet, the price goes up to 13,000 kronor. This can be compared to, for example, the Oneplus Pad 3, which costs from 8,500 kronor and then has 512 GB of storage and the fastest chipset Snapdragon 8 Elite. Samsung simply has difficulty creating a value-for-money product in this mid-range segment.

At the time of writing, Samsung is offering a 1500 kronor discount on the Galaxy Tab S10 FE Plus, and perhaps that's how the tablet should be viewed. Not worth the price when new, but perhaps in a year when it's discounted and sold at a promotional price.

Questions and Answers

What is the Today's Frame feature? It is a feature that can be activated when the tablet is connected to a charger, turning it into a picture frame, a place for the family's notes, or a control unit for the smart home.

Are there keyboard accessories available? Yes, there are, and they have Swedish characters on the keyboard, but you have to pay an additional 3100 kronor for it.

Does the tablet have biometric unlocking? Yes, there is a fingerprint reader in the power button that works well.

An Alternative

The Oneplus Pad 3 has a screen of similar size and offers significantly more tablet for the money, but does not have as long an update promise.
