Google is said to have opened the big wallet

Google pays Samsung for Gemini

Google pays Samsung to pre-install the AI technology Gemini on its mobiles.

Starting in January, an agreement was initiated where Google regularly pays Samsung to pre-install the company's latest AI technology, Gemini, on Galaxy phones. This is according to the publication Bloomberg. The agreement is structured so that payments are made monthly over a period of at least two years. In addition to compensation per device with Gemini, a share of the revenue from ads displayed via the service is also included.

Details about the total amount have not been disclosed, but Peter Fitzgerald, Vice President of Platforms and Device Partnerships at Google, has stated in a trial that it involves “enormous sums of money.”

The agreement comes at the same time as attention around Google's previous legal trial in the US, where the company was criticized for promoting its search engine as the default in competitive environments through payments. The new agreement with Samsung can be seen as a continuation of a strategy where large tech companies use pre-installed services as a means to strengthen their market position.

At the same time, it is noted that reports from previous years suggested that Samsung considered switching suppliers from Google to Bing, especially in the wake of Microsoft's emerging successes with Bing Chat.
