Photograph illegally parked cars

Earn money from illegal parking

If you are tired of illegal parkers, you can both enforce justice and earn money with a new app.

A new mobile app named Scoutpark has been launched with the aim of improving order on Swedish streets. The concept is based on a gig economy model where ordinary citizens help parking attendants identify traffic violations - an idea that is both praised for promoting order and criticised for potentially encouraging paid informants, reports the publication Euronews

The app allows users to report illegally parked cars with a few taps by submitting a photograph. If the report is successful, meaning it leads to a parking attendant confirming the illegal parking and issuing a fine, the tipster is rewarded with 100 kronor directly via Swish. If multiple people report the same car, the money goes to the first person who submitted the photographic evidence.

Scoutpark, developed by Scout Park AB, is already available in Uppsala and plans are underway to expand to more Swedish municipalities. The application is aimed at people over 16 years old with a Swedish personal identification number and is available in Swedish, English, and Croatian.

The application, where the user who provides tips remains completely anonymous, is only available within specific parking areas where Scout Park has partnerships with various parking companies.

Additionally, it is these parking companies that are responsible for paying one hundred kronor to the person who provides the tip.

Scoutpark is available for Android and iOS
