Let others do the work

Sony stops its own mobile manufacturing

Not even the flagship model Xperia 1 VII is manufactured by Sony themselves anymore.

Sony has announced a change in its production strategy. This means, among other things, that the manufacturing of the Xperia 1 VII - the company's latest and most advanced mobile - will be entirely done via external OEM partners. This is according to the publication SumahoDigest. Previously, Sony had its own production facilities in countries like Thailand and China, but these no longer list smartphones as their own product. Sony had previously outsourced the manufacturing of its mid-range mobiles entirely to external manufacturers, but now, according to the information, this will also include the company's flagship models.

The decision underscores a strategic transition where even flagship models are no longer manufactured internally. The change has raised some concerns among users about whether the well-known Sony feel and quality can be maintained as production no longer takes place in the company's own facilities. Despite these speculations, the initiative marks that future models in the Xperia series will also be produced externally.
