End of the Road for Symfonisk Speakers

Ikea and Sonos Part Ways

No new Symfonisk speakers, but the existing ones will receive support for a while longer.

Ikea and Sonos have ended their collaboration on the Symfonisk speaker series, which began in 2019. Sonos confirms this to the publication The Verge and announces that current stocks of speakers will be sold out in Ikea stores globally. The products will still receive software updates and work with the Sonos app, Spotify Connect, and Apple's AirPlay.

There is no official, detailed explanation as to why the collaboration ended. Neither Ikea nor Sonos has pointed to a specific reason; the decision seems to have been a strategic reassessment where both parties chose not to proceed with new joint products. Sonos has announced that they will continue to support and update the existing products, which suggests that the end was not related to technical issues or dissatisfaction with the products, but rather a natural phase in the development of the collaboration.
