Long Planning for the 20th Anniversary

iPhone to Celebrate 20th Anniversary in Grand Style

Apple is reportedly planning something extra special for the iPhone's 20th anniversary in two years.

Apple is planning a noticeably different design direction for the iPhone's 20th anniversary in 2027. According to information from the publication Bloomberg, the company is expected to launch a new foldable iPhone alongside an iPhone Pro model, which is said to receive a comprehensive design update with a focus on glass. It is speculated that the new iPhone Pro could be an interpretation of former design chief Jony Ive's vision of a unified glass surface.

Historically, Apple has used special anniversary occasions to introduce more extensive changes. At the launch of the iPhone X, which marked the phone's 10th anniversary, the home button was removed and Touch ID was replaced by Face ID. The upcoming anniversary model is now expected to follow this tradition by presenting new technical and design solutions.

In parallel with the new iPhone Pro variant, there are also rumours of a further developed foldable model, likely a customised or improved version of the model already under development. Apple is also reportedly considering changing its usual naming guidelines - instead of following a sequential numbering, the anniversary model might be named with a decade-related name, such as "iPhone 20".
