Apple's own command centre for the smart home is reported to have suffered a major delay.

Apple's venture into the smart home seems to have stalled somewhat. This is reported by the publication Bloomberg, which says that Apple is postponing the launch of its smart home command centre codenamed 1490.

The product, which was intended to introduce an entirely new product category for the company and compete with Google Nest Hub and Echo Show, was originally set to launch in the first half of 2025, then alongside the launch of this year's iPhone models in autumn 2025. It is now reportedly delayed until sometime in 2026.

The planned hub was to have a 7-inch screen, a new operating system, and integration with Apple Intelligence. Internal challenges have delayed the project, which is closely linked to Apple Intelligence and the next generation of the intelligent digital assistant Siri.
