Pixel-exclusive assistant

Pixel Sense becomes new digital assistant

Google is reportedly working on a new digital assistant for its Pixel 10 devices.

Over the years, Google has made several attempts to create a true digital assistant for its devices, with the latest being Pixie, which was intended to come to the Pixel 9 devices. That did not happen, but now the publication Android Authority reports that the company intends to launch a version of Pixie on its upcoming Pixel 10, but under a new name in the form of Pixel Sense.

According to a source the publication spoke with, Google summarises Pixel Sense as providing the user with "the most personal experience based on the things you do on your Pixel." The assistant is said to be made entirely locally on the device and so private that not even Google can see how it is used. It will, among other things, be able to retrieve data from a range of other Google apps on the device to provide a more personal experience. Additionally, it will be able to process media files including text, images, AI-generated content, and associated metadata to help the user perform various tasks.

Pixel Sense is expected to use Gemini Nano and will become exclusive to Google Pixel devices.
