From one generation to another

Samsung may jump directly to One UI 8

Early launch of Android 16 may lead Samsung to skip upgrades for One UI 7.

Samsung has fallen behind with its Android 15-based interface One UI 7, and there is talk of starting to roll out upgrades only in April. At the same time, Google is expected to launch the final version of Android 16 already in the second quarter of this year, which could have a drastic effect on Samsung's upgrades.

It is the leaker IceUniverse who is releasing the information that Samsung may skip incremental upgrades for One UI 7, such as potential versions like One UI 7.1 and 7.1.1, to instead move directly towards an Android 16-based One UI 8.

Google released Android 16 beta 2 in February, while Samsung began beta testing Android 15 for the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Fold 6, the Galaxy S23 series, and the Galaxy Tab S10 series now in March.
