Guides and apologises in email

Google to Chromecast Users: This is What Happens Now

In a new email to those who have one of the affected Chromecast devices, Google apologises for the issues that have occurred and provides guidance. However, not everyone has received the email.

It has now been ten days since major Chromecast issues were discovered. The devices could not be used and Google has still not confirmed what caused the problem. However, they have now sent out another email, in addition to the one sent out at the end of last week.

In the new email, Google informs that those who have not acted and factory reset their device should now have a working Chromecast again. It has simply received the update that fixes the original problem, as long as the device has been connected to the internet the whole time.

Those who, however, have factory reset their device for troubleshooting and problem-solving purposes must first update to the latest version of the Google Home app (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to be able to reinstall their devices. The new app has been released, but it may take a few more days before everyone sees the update in the app stores, Google announces. If you do not see the new version, you need to wait and then try again in a day or so.
