Apple Watch goes down, Chinese watches go up

Smartwatch Sales Decline with Apple Leading

Sales of smartwatches are declining, and Apple Watch is plummeting.

It is the statistics company Counterpoint Research that has released a new report on the global sales of smartwatches, and for the first time, it turns out that sales are declining. Sales in 2024 were 7 percent lower than in 2023. One of the major reasons is that sales of the Apple Watch plummeted.

Sales of smartwatches are becoming increasingly polarised, with more buyers choosing smartwatches from a smaller number of manufacturers. The big winner was Xiaomi, which increased by 135 percent and went from 3 percent of the market to 8 percent. A strong second in terms of growth was Huawei, which increased by 35 percent and took 13 percent of the market. Then came Imoo with an increase of 22 percent and Samsung with 3 percent.

The significant named decline was for the Apple Watch, which fell by no less than 19 percent, but they are still the largest with 22 percent of the market compared to 25 percent in 2023.

The combined group “others” accounted for the largest drop and fell by 22 percent, but still holds 42 percent of the market compared to 50 percent in 2023.
