How to customise Chromecast with Google TV for a cleaner interface

You can make the home screen on Google TV less cluttered. We explain how.

Basically, the home screen on Google TV has a range of different suggestions for what the service thinks you want to watch. It can be replaced so that you instead get a cleaner home screen, with only your apps and streaming services in a grid.

You can find the home screen settings under Settings by going to your account. So you go to Settings, Accounts and Sign-in, select your account, and then scroll down with the remote control to the bottom and “Apps only mode”. Then you deselect all suggestions on the home screen based on what you have previously watched and liked. Unfortunately, this mode also means that the panel for Google Home and home control, if you have activated it, is no longer available. The main purpose is, in any case, that the home screen, similar to Apple TV, becomes significantly cleaner and only shows apps and services you choose yourself. At the same time, the usual headings Start, Apps, Library disappear from the home screen, so some services and content are no longer accessible.
