Possible solution for TikTok

Oracle may buy global TikTok

The debacle between US authorities and the video service TikTok.

The long history between the video service TikTok and the potentially impending American ban may have taken a turn that includes not only American TikTok but global TikTok.

The publication NPR reports that the tech company Oracle, together with a group of investors including Microsoft, may be on the way to taking over TikTok. According to the report, this potential deal would encompass all of TikTok's global operations, and the group would then take responsibility for the app's powerful algorithm, the way data is collected, and all other software. It is worth noting that Oracle already today provides the infrastructure for TikTok, which may make the transition smoother. However, Bytedance would retain a minority stake in the company but would no longer have access to users' data.

For Oracle and Microsoft, this could be a strategic opportunity to deepen their presence in social media, an area where they have not previously had the same dominance as competitors like Facebook and Google. A global takeover of TikTok could give them a strong position in this market.

It remains to be seen how Bytedance will react, and whether an agreement with Oracle and Microsoft will actually become a reality.
