New Oneplus Watch 3 Now Official

Oneplus builds on its predecessor's market-leading battery life, and the Oneplus Watch 3 gets improved sensors, new health features, and a changed design.

The official launch of the Oneplus Watch 3 will not happen until February 18, but true to its habit, Oneplus is releasing some information and even images in advance to generate interest. Both the information the company is releasing now and the images tell more about what is to come.

The big advantage of the Oneplus Watch 3 and something that builds on what we got in the predecessor is a special dual architecture. The watch uses Google's Wear OS and a Snapdragon W5 chip, but at the same time has a simpler system chip that takes over when the power of Wear OS is not needed. This means that the Oneplus Watch 3 gets significantly better battery life than other watches in the Wear OS segment. The W5 chip is the same as the one in the predecessor Oneplus Watch 2, but the more energy-efficient chip has been updated from BES2700 to BES2800. The watch should manage five days of battery life and a quick charge of 10 minutes should also charge the watch with enough power to last for a day's use.

In addition to the battery life, Oneplus vaguely describes how the Watch 3 has received innovative health features and seamlessly integrated sensors. Something Oneplus does not mention, but which is revealed by the images, is that compared to its predecessor, the watch has received a new improved crown, the upper button on the right side. We learn that the Oneplus Watch 3 has the same stainless steel construction as the previous watch, but it is now complemented by a new titanium alloy frame. Oneplus also mentions that the battery capacity has increased from 500 to 631 mAh.

Mobil has tested both the Oneplus Watch 2 about a year ago and the cheaper Oneplus Watch 2R with largely the same function, but at a lower price. Unlike several other Wear OS watches and the Apple Watch, Oneplus watches do not come in any version with e-sim but connect only with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

Oneplus Watch 2 costs 3400 kronor today while Oneplus Watch 2R costs 2900 kronor. Oneplus has not yet announced the price for the new Watch 3.
