There are indeed occasions when AI, at least some of the ones we test, can save an image that would otherwise have failed. We will see examples of that now.
The image presents some challenges. As you can see, it involves a construction crane. When we tell the AI services what we want to erase, we do so by simply drawing around the object to be removed. The different services vary in their ability to detect the edges of the object and mark it correctly. Samsung has a certain advantage because we are testing Galaxy AI in the foldable Fold6 with a pen, which provides better precision. However, Samsung is also good at detecting which objects you mean even without a pen. Google Photos is the worst and often requires me to zoom into the image and manually adjust the marking, adding and subtracting in several steps.
The result clearly shows usable images from Samsung and Google Photos. The image made with Galaxy AI by Samsung is the better one, while in the Google Photos image, you can see a bit more blur where the crane was, probably little enough that someone who doesn't know where to look won't react. OnePlus and Xiaomi, however, both present large pillars of blur where the crane was, and neither of those images can be used.
