iPhone with iOS 18: Lock and hide apps so only you can see them

One of the new features in iOS 18 is that you can lock and even hide apps from others. We explain how it works.

It is easy to lock and hide apps in IOS 18. By holding your finger on the app's icon, you get a menu where you can choose to “require Face ID or Touch ID” for that app. By choosing this, you can ensure that the app is locked so you must confirm with facial recognition, code, or fingerprint before the app can be opened.

In the same setting, you can also choose to hide the app, so it does not appear on the home screen, in the app library, or in searches. This also means that you do not receive any notifications, calls, or anything else from that app. Hidden apps end up in the “Hidden” app in the app library, and you can of course only see the content and open it if you first verify yourself with a fingerprint, code, or facial recognition.
