If you want a compact mobile: This is why Foldable is a good option

Depending on what you want from a compact mobile, foldable phones can be a solution.

Here we talk about foldable mobiles that have a more or less normal format when unfolded and become smaller and thicker when you fold them. Considering what is available on the Swedish market, we are talking about Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip series and Motorola's Razr series. Both series have come with a large external screen since last year, large enough to run apps on.

Is this the solution for those who want a compact mobile? Yes and no. If you are concerned about the weight, you naturally gain nothing by folding the mobile, and if you have it in your trouser pocket, it becomes rather bulkier than more convenient when it is folded. On the other hand, if you dream of being able to use the mobile with one hand, there are definitely possibilities here, but also difficulties.

Mainly, it is about the screen format, less than half as large and wider than it is tall. Far from all apps work as they should in this format, buttons can disappear so they cannot be used, and when you enter text, the screen is largely covered by the on-screen keyboard. Samsung is even so indifferent to apps on the external screen that you have to go into the settings to turn it on, and then they still only allow a very few. At the same time, they provide the possibility to turn on apps on the external screen via their app Good Lock. The possibility is there, they have just made it complicated. And even if not all apps work, there are many that do, and you can, for example, navigate, check off the shopping list, and reply to messages without opening the mobile.
