Google releases new security feature

Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel phones will be the first models to receive the new feature to protect system settings.

Google has started rolling out a new security feature that requires biometric verification when the user tries to access sensitive parts of the operating system or change important settings. This means that even if someone gets hold of the user's PIN code, they cannot make changes without also bypassing your biometric security. This makes it much harder for thieves to manipulate stolen devices.

When the feature is activated, you need to use biometrics to, for example, access passwords and passkeys, change the screen lock, or turn off "Find My Device." The feature is called "Identity check" in English and is first released to Pixel phones, followed by Galaxy models running One UI 7. Other phone brands will receive the update later this year.
