Honor showcases massive AI investment with AI agent

Honor, which has a strong position in Finland and was recently reintroduced in Norway, has unveiled new AI services where your phone, thanks to an AI agent, can handle tasks without you having to lift a finger.

There have been many reports about a Swedish relaunch of Honor, but so far we have nothing confirmed.

At the Barcelona fair, Honor is showcasing, among other things, the thin foldable Honor Magic v3 and Honor Magic 7 Pro. However, it is the AI services that are attracting the most attention. Today, Honor has announced an AI investment equivalent to over 100 billion kronor over the next five years. They are now planning a deeper collaboration with Google regarding Android and a greater effort to grow in markets outside China. They are also presenting their own AI agent, which we have had the opportunity to take a closer look at and test on-site at the fair.

Motorola has previously showcased a similar concept, but it requires integration with each individual app that Moto AI is supposed to interact with in that case.

Conscious AI agent does the job

The Honor AI agent available for testing at the fair is voice-controlled and is aware of the phone's and its apps' functions. This means it can, so to speak, see what is displayed on the screen and interpret it. I start by telling it that I want a table booked tonight at a local restaurant for four people at 9 PM. The agent understands what this means, opens the right app, searches for restaurants, selects those with a Spanish theme, and makes the booking. Meanwhile, I can watch and see how it navigates the app's menus, selects 4 people and the right time. The app does not need to be customised in any way, as the AI agent understands what to do regardless of the app. In the same way, I can, for example, ask it to change a system setting or edit a photo.

Honor started as part of Huawei and in 2015 the brand was launched successfully in Sweden with the artist Petter as the advertising figure. Since then, Honor has been spun off from Huawei in 2020 and can still use Google's app store and services including Android.
