Expensive and with some compromises

What to Expect from Apple's Foldable iPhone

Apple's first foldable phone is likely at least a year away, but analyses can already indicate what might be expected.

It is the analyst and leaker Ming-Chi Kuo who has released information about what can be expected from Apple's first foldable iPhone, which is claimed to be coming in 2026.

Unsurprisingly, a foldable iPhone is expected to position itself as a flagship mobile that, according to Kuo, is expected to have a price tag well over 2000 dollars. For that, buyers will get a mobile with high performance including a screen with no visible crease, hinges in stainless steel and titanium alloy, in a chassis that is 4.5 millimetres thick when the mobile is unfolded. The inner screen could be 7.8 inches with an outer screen of 5.5 inches.

However, Kuo believes that the fact the mobile is expected to be very thin comes at a price, as it will not have Face ID but will revert to Touch ID via the power button on the side.

When it comes to cameras, Kuo claims that it will have a front camera positioned to be accessible both when the mobile is folded and unfolded, and on the back, two camera sensors.

According to Kuo, the final specifications will be determined in the second quarter of 2025 with development starting in the third quarter of 2025.
