If they are near your or another compatible phone, you will receive a direct report of the position, otherwise the last known position. Those times when you think where did I put the keys now, or did my suitcase make it through the airport's baggage handling as it should, or is my bike still where I left it. Those times you just start the app and get a report on where your tagged items are. You can also get alerts if you leave your things behind. If you forget your bag at a restaurant, for example, or miss taking your wallet or keys when you leave home, it can be useful.

It is also possible to share a tagged item with others, such as family members. Then you can all see the position of shared items, like the key to the vacation home or whatever it might be.
